Improving My Qualifications

I am thinking of going back to school to get a masters degree, and I am trying to figure out which is the best way to go about doing this. I was thinking it would be convenient to get a mechanical engineering degree online since the only other option I have available would require a long commute after work most days and I wouldn’t see much of my family them. Working online I can do it when the kids are in bed.
