Who is Eligible for VGLI Insurance?

3:32 am Home

Anyone who has been an active service member with the military is eligible to obtain VGLI insurance after they have been released from the service. They must have served more than 31 days and previously had SGLI coverage. Anyone who served and has become disabled, making them uninsurable at standard premium rates is also eligible to obtain VGLI. As long as you send in the application for VGLI, a copy of your DD 214 or another proof of service and your first months premium, you will be eligible for coverage under VGLI. Discounts are provided for individuals who choose to pay for their life insurance quarterly, semi-annually or annually.
