What kind of Wood is used for Building a Modular Home?
March 5, 2009 12:30 pm HomeOnly the best lumber is used in modular homes. The precision machinery typically used in the fabrication of modular homes only accepts high quality, kiln-dried lumber. This is very unlike site-built houses which often use “green” boards- boards that are untreated and often not at all flat. In these well built modular homes, jigs built and used consistently to form walls and modular sections are calibrated to fit only the best types of lumber. Then these pieces are both nailed and glued together. The resulting construction makes the modular homes stronger. They are also more energy efficient as they are very tight.
