Test Pilot Killed In F-22A Crash

Cooley was identified by the Air Force late today as part of the Edwards’ 412th Test Wing. He was part of a team of Lockheed Martin and air force pilots who conduct F-22 testing. The F-22A Raptor crashed in the Mojave Desert at 10 am during a test flight mission for contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. The Air Force is trying to pinpoint what caused the crash. Lockheed Martin did not release any details of the accident or say whether or not Cooley attempted to eject, but they did release this statement: ” We are deeply saddened by the loss of David and our concerns, thoughts and prayers at this time are with his family. ” David Cooley the test pilot killed in F-22A crash was a 21-year veteran who joined Lockheed Martin in 2003. His father, Bill Cooley, is a retired Air Force master sergeant. He says his son flew a wide inventory of aircraft and had been testing the Raptor jet for several years.
