First, you need to change the habits that got you to this point in the first place. Stop thinking of food as entertainment (as many of us do) and start looking at it as fuel for the body. This way you focus your food efforts on what is good for it to perform – nutrient-rich foods, lots of vitamins and minerals, and a good balance of carbohydrates, protein and fat. Second, regular exercise is a must. It doesn’t have to be strenuous, take 3 hours a day or get you ready for a marathon. You simply need to get up and do something, anything. Take a walk, do yoga, something – just make sure it is sufficient to make you feel like you actually did do something (walking around the couch 3 times doesn’t count). Finally, supplements do help. Most diets are insufficient in getting the body everything it needs. There are many natural supplements that will fill in those dietary gaps and usually have the added benefits of antioxidants and increased metabolism. Do these things, stick with them and you’ll drop the pounds you want to shed – just be patient with it.
