The importance of time management
August 22, 2009 9:02 am BusinessBe aware of your energy levels, both throughout the day and at different times of the week, month or year – wintertime and less daylight can slow people down. When you’re tired or under the weather, you won’t be able to get as much done.
Keep this fact in mind and give yourself permission to do less at these times. Focus on the 80/20 rule – the importance of time management means you do the really important things that add the most value when time is short or when your energy isn’t up to it.
Try not to fight your natural tendency to schedule work when you feel at your best. If you’re tied to traditional office hours then when you start and finish work may not be entirely your decision. But many employers now offer more flexible working patterns, and you can choose how you spend your time before and after work. Of course, if you work for yourself you have more flexibility around when you work.
