In college at last and debt free
March 7, 2009 4:57 pm BusinessI grew up in a poor southern family in western South Carolina. We lived in a poor small town where everyone new each other and everyone’s business. I guess you could say we were borderline “rednecks” and I was determined to get out of South Carolina and get a college education. I took all the credit card companies up on their offers, applied for government financial aid and college loans for college and got the hell out of dodge. I wasn’t off to college for 18 months when I became concerned with the debt I was running up. I enrolled with a credit card debt settlement program. It took four years and four months to pay back my credit card debt. It was a lot of hard work, but it was all worth it. I am now married and living in southern California but most importantly I am debt free.
