The idea of Esignatures was taken from the time when these documents were still faxed or personally delivered to people for signing. Security was an issue at that time because the sending party will not have an idea whether the document has reached the right person. As time passed by, people tried to discover ways on how documents can be signed digitally. This then gave birth to the use of Esignatures.

Esignatures are encouraged by the government to be used, and if you need proof, search the Net for the Federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act, which President Bill Clinton signed in 2000—using his own signature—to legalize the use of this method. This act was implemented on every state and was even adopted by the European Union.
