Commentary On “Gurdon: My ‘Reprehensible’ Take on Teen Literature”

8:33 pm Business

I’m saying there were 20,000 people there and we weren’t all librarians. You can be an ALA member w/o being a librarian. And you can attend ALA w/o being a member. It’s $25.

And my attitude is this: I LOVE BOOKS. And at ALA we were pretty much ALL (librarians and otherwise) FAR too busy talking about how much we all love advice books (it is the point of the conference after all) to talk about Gurdon or any other detractors (see: Slate article published last week).

She definitely wasn’t, as SHE theorized, burned in effigy. I totally would have noticed that. (Also, smoking of any sort inside the NOLA convention center is illegal)
